It is great to know the career I am working with(Software Engineer) is the best job of 2011.

According to careertrack.com the best rated job in 2011 is Software Engineer, at least in the US. 200 professions across various industries, skill levels, and salaries have been surveyed to calculate the ranking which is determined by taking the work environment, physical demands, outlook, income and stress into account. Computer Systems Analysts ranked at 5th position, software programmers at 27th position.
Wikipedia.org defines a software engineer as

an engineer who appies the principles of software engineering to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of the software and systems that make computers or anything containing software, such as computer chips, work.
Software engineers are employed in different industries such as creation of systems for medical, scientific, or industrial purposes. Thus, there is a high diversity of working environments and industries which require software engineering skills. In particular, the survey claims that there are two emerging industries which helped push the job of Software Engineers to the top of the rankings, cloud computing and web applications. CBSNews suggests that the application market of iPods, tablets, smartphones, and other devices might have also contributed to this development.
The 2011 Jobs Rated report determined that jobs in software engineering offer
a comfortable work environment, few intense physical demands, better than average income, strong hiring, and comparatively low stress.
For those who want to get rich as software engineers. Their average income in the US is about $ 87,400.00 much less than that of some other jobs. However, Tony Lee, publisher of the report said in a statement
If the worst job was ranked solely on salary, dishwasher would have been at the bottom of the list with a mid-level income of $18,053, while surgeon, which is the highest-paying job with a mid-level salary of $365,258, would have been the top job. But once you factor in stress, environmental factors, hiring outlook and other factors, income becomes just one piece of the puzzle.

Live - solving the jasper report out of memory and high cpu usage problems

I still can not find the solution. So I summary all the things and tell my boss about it. If any one knows the solution, please let me know. Symptom: 1.        The JVM became Out of memory when creating big consumption report 2.        Those JRTemplateElement-instances is still there occupied even if I logged out the system Reason:         1. There is a large number of JRTemplateElement-instances cached in the memory 2.     The clearobjects() method in ReportThread class has not been triggered when logging out Action I tried:      About the Virtualizer: 1.     Replacing the JRSwapFileVirtualizer with JRFileVirtualizer 2.     Not use any FileVirtualizer for cache the report in the hard disk Result: The japserreport still creating the a large number of JRTemplateElement-instances in the memory        About the work around below,      I tried: item 3(in below work around list) – result: it helps to reduce  the size of the JRTemplateElement Object        

Stretch a row if data overflows in jasper reports

It is very common that some columns of the report need to stretch to show all the content in that column. But  if you just specify the property " stretch with overflow' to that column(we called text field in jasper report world) , it will just stretch that column and won't change other columns, so the row could be ridiculous. Haven't find the solution from internet yet. So I just review the properties in iReport one by one and find two useful properties(the bold  highlighted in example below) which resolve the problems.   example: <band height="20" splitType="Stretch" > <textField isStretchWithOverflow="true" pattern="" isBlankWhenNull="true"> <reportElement stretchType="RelativeToTallestObject" mode="Opaque" x="192" y="0" width="183" height="20"/> <box leftPadding="2"> <pen lineWidth="0.25"/>
